Due to the pandemic we were unable to hold Abbey Skate in 2021 and 2022, and it will not be taking place in 2023.
However we are looking ahead and hoping to run a restriction free Abbey Skate 2024!
Keep safe and we hope to see you soon.
Many thanks to all who helped set up and run Abbey Skate 2020 – and to all who came along to take part!
It was a wonderful occasion as volunteers from the church family joined with Phil Williams and his team from Christian Surfers and Skaters UK to transform our inspiring 12th century former Benedictine abbey into a 21st century skate park during the spring half-term break.
There were sessions for all ages and abilities, and skating, scooters, demos, competitions, music and tuck shop, as well as the Abbey Cafe.
Abbey Skate has been an annual event, a way of showing young people that the Abbey is for them as much as everyone else, and a way of proclaiming Jesus’ words:
“I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
The 2020 event was wonderful…
