ABBEY LEADERSHIP:

Neill ArcherNeill Archer - Vicar

Neill is 46 and has been the Vicar here in Malmesbury since April 2004. Before that he was a minister in Forster Tuncurry, N.S.W. Australia. Before that he was a curate in Derbyshire. Before that he was an international opera singer for nearly 20 years, singing at the Royal Opera House, Sydney Opera House etc. He has never had a proper job in his life.
He is married to Marilyn, an Australian, who is the singing teacher at Malmesbury School, and they have three teenage daughters Sally, Rosie and Grace. His main ministries at the Abbey are running the basketball team with Pete, shifting chairs with Henry, and overseeing lots of things. Neill takes two days off a week (Friday and Saturday) and recently gave a seminar at New Wine on 'Rest'.

Mike is 64, married to Joy and has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. He is the May Moore Chaplain for the Elderly and also Chaplain to the local branch of The Royal British Legion and the local Air Training Corps squadron. He has been in this parish for 3 years and was previously curate in Gloucester Diocese.

Alice feels no need to reveal her age but has been at Malmesbury Abbey 2 years longer than the Vicar. Before that she lived in London where she did a BTh and an MA in Biblical Interpretation (and met James) at The London School of Theology. She loves taking part in all kinds of creative arts, music and drama.

James is from Brighton and has been married to Alice since 2001. They met at LST where James also did a BA and MA in Biblical Interpretation. He worked at Burton Hill school for 3 years as a teaching assistant with children with learning and physical disabilities before taking his current role at the Abbey. He is also an ordinand training at Oxford part-time. He enjoys
creative arts and Benedictine spirituality.

Pete is married to Katharine and they have 3 children - Luke, Sophie and Oliver. They have attended the Abbey since 1997 and been involved in the youth work (before there was a proper youth pastor!) and currently run the Junior Church. They both love to arrange events and activities that enable as many children in the town and neighbouring villages to hear about and experience God's love for them.
Pete also enjoys the challenge of ensuring the Abbey is a welcoming and down-to-earth place for blokes to come and enjoy, organising events, good food and sports! Pete is a Social Worker and works for Bath Local Authority.


Mike Langtree and Chris Simons - Churchwardens.

Mike and Chris serve the Abbey community as Churchwardens and take particular responsibility for the fabric of the church, the running of services and the sanity of the Vicar.
