My donkey body by Michael Wenham, book review. My Donkey Body
by Michael Wenham

This book is a real treasure - ideal for a Christmas present.  It is a story of a parish priest diagnosed with motor neurone disease and how his faith carries him through the challenge of this cruel illness.  It is written with humour, love and humility and is a great encouragement to anyone suffering or not with a life threatening disease.
The time came when Michael felt unable to carry on as a vicar so he went to tender his resignation to his Bishop.  He advised Michael to stay in the job but to BE not DO.  He is still in post!

Do read it: it will inspire you.

Jesus for President by Shane Claibourne and Chris Haw, book review.Jesus for President
by Shane Claibourne and Chris Haw

www.jesusforpresident.org

This is a very visual book, put together like a collage of many things and places. It speaks of a President for life, not just for Christmas and recasts the whole story into a modern context. Starting with Adam and eve (No political parties in that garden, not even the Green Party) and going all the way throught to Revelation (and the original identity of the Beast). It includes such things as literal biblical excuses to smite your neightbour, a thirteenth century streaking saint, and why Heaven is overcrowded when there is a strict entry policy.

A book well worth opening, and hard to close again, with many thought provoking sections - all written with a lot of humour.
