Along with freshly ground Fairtrade barista coffees, we offer an array of teas and soft drinks, a fine choice of sandwiches, toasties, soup and delicious cakes and cookies. Our bacon rolls are irresistible!

So begins Chapter 53 of the 6th century Rule of Benedict! Malmesbury Abbey began life as a Benedictine monastery in the 7th century. Things have changed a little since then, but hospitality to all remains an important and natural part of Abbey life.
Enter through the historic main door to be inspired by our beautiful building as you sit to enjoy our hospitality. Alternatively, in warmer weather, we open the ancient door from the Cloister Gardens at the rear of the Abbey where you can relax at one of our garden tables in a glorious outside space. Please note that this garden entrance has steps. Our staff are happy to provide assistance if required but the main entrance is the better option if you need to avoid the steps altogether.
We are open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Occasionally the Café is closed whilst a wedding or funeral service is underway, though in fine weather we keep our outside seating area open for food, soft drinks and a reduced selection of hot drinks.
If you’re nearby just drop in and see us. OR you can contact us and order in advance; we can have your order ready for you when you arrive. OR, if you are visiting with a group from afar why not let us know and we can arrange a takeaway light lunch or an afternoon tea.

Our freshly ground coffee is provided by Kingdom Coffee. Founded in 1998, their products are Fairtrade, ethical, sustainable and aim to continue to fund and support work to help to improve more lives in coffee growing communities around the world. Their energy efficient roastery produces consistently high-quality fresh coffee beans and is BRC & Soil Association accredited, Fairtrade certified and Rainforest Alliance certified.
We have a 5 Star rating from the Food Standards Agency , have been awarded Fairtrade Status from the Fairtrade Foundation and we have worked really hard to get our “Breast Feeding Friendly” status from the NCT & the NHS.
